The Kansas Department of Children and Families (“DCF”) conducts investigations and makes decisions that can impact a person’s ability to work in a facility licensed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (i.e. childcare centers, nursing homes).
Though these decisions themselves do not involve criminal liability, DCF personnel and law enforcement often work hand in hand and share information. What is learned in a DCF investigation could certainly be used by the District Attorney or a city prosecutor to try and convict you of a crime.
Prior to joining the Law Office of David J. Grummon full-time, Timothy Olson worked as a staff attorney for the Kansas Department of Children and Families and knows that these decisions happen behind closed doors.
If DCF has made an administrative finding against you for the abuse and/or neglect of a child or adult, you may request a hearing to appeal their decision, and you can be sure that they will send their attorney to the hearing. If you would like to level the playing field, please call today to schedule a free consultation with Timothy to find out how he can help.
